Howdy!
It's been a bit since I wrote to ya so here she goes!
I have been a busy boy!
The NoCo tour with the Swallow Hill Travelling Troupe was an AMAZING experience!
We played a ton of shows in a week and a half all over the Ft. Collins area and the kids turned out to be the most receptive and appreciative audiences that I have played to in a long time! They were sober and unafraid to have fun! I recently read a few of the letters that were sent in to SHMA in thanks for our tour and I broke down in tears to see how my music may be affecting these young people.
Next up was the Colorado Academy week at SHMA....I worked with 12 kids from the school in various grades on all kinds of instruments! It was such fun working with Ed Contreras again so soon after the NoCo tour! Those kids wrote an entire album worth of material in a week and then recorded the whole thing in an afternoon! again...AMAZING EXPERIENCE!
I have been setting up some great new classes at SHMA..you can find them all on my website:
http://citradelic.com under "Events" or "Events/Classes & Worskhops."
or on SHMA's BRAND NEW WEBSITE!!!!
http://swallowhillmusic.org/music-school?browse=instructor&inst...
I broke down the Modes and Scales classes into one class that is called the Basics of Lead! So instead of running up and down modes and scales...we will actually just use them to compose solos and learn how to improvise!
The Blues Ensemble is back...any instrument..vocals too!
Texas and Chicago Blues has been broken into two classes...so advanced students can get more and less advanced can get those basics!
I added a Funk workshop as well as an iPad workshop!
This brings me to the iPad....yes I got one. I am so glad. I have managed to recycle SO MUCH PAPER! my house is slowly becoming a house again instead of a thousand piles of papers from my classes! I am writing and recording music again during my short breaks at SHMA and have found great apps to use for all musicians!
Hillbilly Inferno is still trying to spread its wings...we are just trying to figure out who is really gonna be in this project! Look for some good stuff soon tho! We went ahead and created a demo and one sheet....so bookings
should be coming in the next month or so.
I will be playing the Sitar at the Denver Public Library...the big one downtown... SAT August 14th from 2-3 pm. its FREE! The
Tumble Skunks have been booked to rock a Funkfest in Winterpark on Sun Sept. 5th! Yes...I
am putting together a Funk outfit for one off shows! More info coming down the "pipeline" soon.
Now...NEXT... my dearest friend and mentor Garry Shider is very ill. He has no insurance...I got the wild hair yesterday to compile an album of music from his fans that we can sell to add money to his medical fund:
http://www.garryshidermedicalfund.com/
We have 12 tracks ready to go from around the world and are expecting to actually record a song by sending tracks back and forth and working on them for a special song just for Garry! The power of Funk is AMAZING...
that's my word of the day ya'all!
have an AMAZING day!
