How to use this site

I have received some comments that the site is hard to use.... I am sorry first of all.

I am trying to make it as easy as possible to share all of this info with you and keep things up to date for each class.

Here are a few suggestions on how to use this site:

Join the actual website...You won't be able to download the files you need if you aren't a member of the Site AND the Group that fits your class as well.

At the Top Right of the screen is a Sign in or Sign up option....please do BOTH!

The Top LEFT of the screen is a sign up to be on my MAILING LIST.. I send out information about my music and shows and such every few weeks or so.

Now that you have joined the website you can move on towards the

GROUPS!!!

Make sure that you join the group that fits your class!!!

If you are in a Core Level Class... 1a to 4 at SHMA...then join the CoreZone group.

If you are in a Texas and Chicago Blues Class....join the BlueZone

If you have taken Private lessons...the Private Student Zone...hardly anybody has bothered with this one!

I now have a CAGED and a CAGED Fall 2010....join the Fall 2010 one for an easier grouping of pages.

If you have attended a BootCamp with me then join that group as well... I update the files for each bootcamp..

Now... Each Group has Discussions in them.

The Core Zone has a Discussion for each Level....if you have joined me at an advanced level be sure to look at the earlier discussions to find the files that you are missing!

The FakeBook! SONGS SONGS SONGS discussion is for ALL LEVELS!!!! there are a TON of songs in there to learn! PLEASE take the initiative to go in there and

LEARN SONGS THAT YOU ARE INTERESTED IN!

sorry to yell kiddos....but I just want to make a point....you have to put the chords and scales to WORK for you by learning some songs....Apply the techniques that you are learning in each class to the songs that you have already learned..you should find that you will progress faster if you do this...

Jambalaya for instance is a song that we learn right away...a simple D and A7 chord...Level ONe...just play the chords! Level two...get that Picking hand working better...Level 3...use the Barre Chords...etc....same song....Three levels!

You can start your own threads and discussions! You can send me or your classmates messages!

You can Start your OWN Groups if you want!

you can upload music and pictures....embed Youtube videos and more!

I will put some walkthroughs up over the next few weeks!

For CORE LEVEL STUDENTS

The FAKEBOOK SONGS SONGS SONGS discussion has SO MANY songs that you can learn! Most of them have basic chord charts. Some have full blown TABS...if you can't follow the full tab, TRY to follow the chords on the chart at least. You can break down any of the hardest charts into simple chords. Just play the chords and work your picking hand to the best of your ability. Explore!!

Please look in there....hunt around....take the initiative to learn the song....if YOU are playing it at the beginning of the class, in whatever shape or form that you CAN, I will PROMISE that it will get attention.
Most every genre and Tons of artists are in that discussion.

When I was 18, I took a music appreciation class that had us listening to FUGUES by Bach.....I was so drawn to one Fugue...the Little in G Minor to be exact. I just had to learn it. We had the sheet music for the songs but I could't yet read music for the guitar.
I sat for HOURS and HOURS...one note at at time, figuring out what I could...and was playing it in the hallway before a guitar class one day and my guitar teacher heard me....I was FAILING his class up until that point.

But when he heard me slowly working out the notes...most of them WRONG STILL....it changed everything and suddenly he saw a way to help me learn better!

Now.....I TRY to get you all the music that you want to learn...but it's hard for me to move thru a lot of songs when people have so much trouble with the one or two that we work on each session. I just feel that it overly frustrates people who have a lot of fear about making mistakes. So I urge each and every one of you to go thru the FAKEBOOK and learn more songs on your own!

Hey there again! Just got back from the Chiropractor and boy do I feel better! Sorry I was such a grump this morning!
Now learn a song and surprise me with it!
